According to TRAI new data Airtel and Vi lost many million active subscribers in 2022. Though jio lost was negligible due to its growth still it was the part of this trend.
According to reports many dual sim users are giving up on secondary sim due to high monthly cost to keep it active. I think Airtel and Vi should do something about it rather than blindly following Jio in this.
They can offer 365days validity recharge for Rs.500 or less where customer would be able to use calling via talktime topup and data from data topup. This way many user would be able to retain their secondary sim and use it whenever required with topup. For operators it would contribute to additional revenue rather than dormant subscribers. Though they’ll suffer on ARPU front but still revenue contributes to overall profitability not just ARPU mark.
