At launch of Mesh Router Systems Technology initially Google was pioneer. It launched first version of it’s popular mesh router in 2016 and then updated version 2 to nest brand in 2019. Though it still was a wifi 5 mesh router with AC2200 capability.
Since then wifi mesh technology has evolved a lot. Firstly by launch of triband mesh router systems by Netgear that came with a dedicated wireless backhaul. This was was big leap in evolution of wireless mesh routers as it solved the major congestion problem. Later wifi 6 was launched on mesh router systems and gradually triband wifi-6 mesh routers. All this happened with Google still on its old AC2200 tech. While rival have launched 10gbps mesh wifi routers.
In India Google mesh was never officially launched so most of online listing is from unofficial sources with high import fees markup. Initially when mesh tech was new it did make sense due unavailability in India. However TP-Link changed the game with its wide range of mesh routers launch in India with prices similar to US/west counterparts.
Currently one can get AX3000 Wifi-6 mesh router at 30% less price than Google AC2200 wifi-5 mesh router or even a Wifi-6E mesh router at almost same price of Google mesh router that comes with 2.5times the speed along with dedicated wireless backhaul.
