All that hype about tariff cut on entry of JIO 4G into the India may not prove to be true as anticipated by users.
We are judging this by the base tariff mentioned on leaflet provided along with sim card given by Reliance Jio to its employees in trial launch.
Base tariff mentioned on JIO sim card leaflet is
2p/sec local & std calls (same as Airtel)
Re.1/sms local & national (only national sms cheaper on JIO)
Rs.5/sms International (same as AVOID group)
Roaming out of home circle
incoming calls – 45p/min (Bsnl/Mtnl is free so cheaper than JIO)
outgoing local- 80p/min (standard)
outgoing std – Rs.1.15/min (same)
So basically voice tariff mentioned of leaflet suggest no price wars what many media outlets are creating picture of. Maybe it would attractive only for higher pack users those who recharge it with Rs.200-300 per month or maybe even further high usage user. Or maybe not even that as JIO would like to win this war on better 4G coverage and features(jio play, jio money, vowifi etc) it would offer compared to it peers. Even jio 4g Mifi device which claimed by many would be launched at Rs.700 are already given for Rs.1999 by Reliance JIO to its employees then how they can offer it cheaper to general public?
So we seriously doubt any big tariff wars by JIO entry just better coverage and range of features.
