Vi started this. Where one can convert their prepaid connection to postpaid using same old sim. However one need to verify this via OTP. I think aadhar linked with mobile device is a must for this to happen.
Now even Airtel has introduced with prepaid to postpaid mobile conversion without change of sim. No need to visit their outlet also. We hope Jio to follow this.
Hopefully more such initiative would be done where mnp & new no activation could be done online only with aadhar based otp verification.
Note: one can’t convert back to prepaid or port out for a period of 90days after conversion.
