For big Indian cities it’s a welcome step for mostly people who are too deep in concrete jungle to get a signal.
As most these places have healthy wifi(based on wireline connection) density so VoWifi is best to solve network woes.
Jio was first one to launch and test it for sometime in July 2016 but stopped it due to regulatory hurdle. After that it was in support of this service. Quite contrary to incumbents who see every technology as risk to revenues and huge(-|-) investment they made in networks.
I am for current telecom space thanks to modernization happening in infrastructure. If it was to left to incumbents we would still be sitting with 3G network with Rs.5 per mms rates thinking 4G is not for us.
