Airtel Rs.199 Idea Rs.198 in response of Jio’s Rs149/153 Jio feature phone plans

Airtel has launched new Rs.199 STV with 28days validity. Offering 1GB data + unlimited calls with FUP.
Idea shortly followed with Rs.198 STV and same 1GB data + unlimited calling with FUP valid for 28days.

And this was in response to Jio’s Rs.149/153 stv which is to be used mostly by Jio feature phone users. Jio has booked more than 6 million feature phones. Most of these user are expected to be 2G users of Airtel/Idea/Voda.

To stop them from churning these plans are launched. Though I expect most of them would still port over with such a cheap 4G phone loaded with features.

Airtel/Idea plan misses roaming calls + SMS. Another downside with Airtel/Idea Rs.199/198 is you get only half the data with fear of balance deduction once data get over. Jio on other side gives double the data & once it is over user gets shaped to 64kbps till the validity of recharge.
