Vodafone India’s parent company plan to invest $7.2 billion USD or Rs.47,700 crore(approx) in it’s Indian operations.
This is most probably for upcoming auctions starting from 1st Oct 2016 where largest amount of spectrum has been put to auctions.
Vodafone India has least amount 4g spectrum among all national operators. It’s got 4G spectrum in just 10 out of 22 circles of country. It need to buy suitable amount of spectrum in rest 12 circles plus also need to it’s network ready for future 4g data capacity requirements. The current trends shows that after Jio 4G commercial launch from 1st Jan 2017 it would be more capacity market in data sector as the operator with bulk network capacity would be able to offer cheaper tariffs.
We expect vodafone to bid for
– 1800mhz in selective circle for 4G lapse in network
– 2100mhz in selective circle for 3G lapse in network
– 2300mhz or 2500mhz depending on competition country wide for outdoor 4G capacity addition.
In recent spectrum auctions of 2016 total of 7 operators have filled in application.
These are Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Rcom, Aircel, Tata docomo and Reliance Jio
