In last week we have seen verbal between incumbent telecom operators aka coai and Jio.
-First Coai blames Trai for favoring new operator(indirectly Jio).
-Next Jio replies with lack of interconnection as its test users faces call congestion.
-Coai in turn ask Dot to cancel test launch of Jio as they didn’t submitted any tariff.
All this happening because of recent quarter result of Airtel and Idea (Vodafone being pvt didn’t publicized) both point to data revenue growth has dropped significantly in last quarter when Jio launched test services.
We all know many data users have recharging their prepaid mobile or change to lowest plan in postpaid. Infact some Airtel & Bsnl users have put their broadband connection on temporary hold thanks to this 3 months+ unlimited data testing gift from jio.
Previously these operators were waiting and preparing for Jio launch however this pre-launch was a surprise on their balance sheet. With shareholders haunting them, this public attacks show their uneasiness.
