Hathway has launched from where ACT left. 10mbps unlimited @ Rs.999+tax to compete with Excitel 50mbps @ Rs.695+tax. Act fibernet launched a similar plan in Delhi region which is stopped now. That said Hathway is known to offer retention plan of 50mbps with 1TB data limit @ Rs.500-600 only.
Let’s talk about Delhi fixed/wired broadband providers
- Mtnl – 100GB in Rs.999 – 8mbps/adsl (phone free) | infrastructure co owned completely
- Airtel – 150GB in Rs.899 – 40mbps/vdsl (phone free unlimited) | infrastructure co owned completely
- Excitel – unlimited in Rs.695 – 50mbps/FTTN(fiber till node in street shared) | last mile franchise owned
- Hathway – 1TB in Rs.695 – 50mbps/docsis 3.0 | infrastructure co owned completely
- Nextra – 200GB in Rs.675 – 50mbps/FTTN(fiber till node in street shared) | last mile franchise owned
- TriplePlay- unlimited in Rs.650- 50mbps/FTTN(fiber till node in street shared) | last mile franchise owned
- Act Fibernet – 350GB in Rs.999 – 100mbps/FTTN(fiber till node in street shared) | infrastructure co owned completely
Hathway first provided broadband on Docsis 3.0 platform however is investing in FTTH in newer areas since cisco’s proprietary technology is costlier for developing nations and suits better for developed areas where cost of laying even an overhead cable is costly. For India and developing areas most provider used to lay fresh cable for docsis as existing one is not good enough making it useless on cost basis with ever cheap fiber and splicing costs.
