Jio is backtracking on most of attractive features of previous announced tariff plans when going paid.
- Withdrawn night unlimited from 16 April 2017
- No extra quota for Jio wifi services.
- & Now monthly quota is reduced from lower Rs.149 to unusable daily limit of just 150MB.
This is done to discourage users from going to lower denomination plans. Jio has already made it clear it is looking for Rs.250-300 ARPU. For which it needs most of it’s users on Rs.300+ plan.
Ironically it is giving 500MB per day to Jio phone users in Rs.153 mandatory recharge.
Clears out Jio is looking to keep smartphone users on Rs.300+ monthly recharge
while feature phone users on Rs.150+ monthly recharge.
Another similarity to it’s older but weaker sibling is ever changing tariff plans. Even the postpaid plans are changing every 3 months when they don’t have any major promo being given this time.
I am not sure this every 3 months changing strategy would work in long run or customers would get fed up like they are of Rcom now for it’s balance leeching policies.
