Routers with 2.5Gbps ports, also known as 2.5Gig Ethernet ports, provide a faster connection to wired devices than traditional gigabit ports. They are designed to support high-speed internet connections and can transfer data at speeds up to 2.5Gbps (2500Mbps). This is roughly 2.5 times faster than standard Gigabit Ethernet, which supports speeds up to 1Gbps (1000Mbps).

These routers typically have a separate 2.5Gbps port for connecting to a Wan for internet or in some acses 2.5Gbps-enabled device, such as a gaming console, desktop computer or NAS, which can take advantage of the faster speeds. Additionally, these routers also have Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for connecting other devices that don’t support 2.5Gbps speeds or only fast ethernet ports.

It’s worth noting that having a 2.5Gbps port on the router does not automatically mean that your internet connection will be 2.5Gbps, it will only support that high speed between the router and the device that is connected to the 2.5Gbps port. The actual internet speed will depend on your internet service provider and the speed of your internet plan.
