Idea has slashed it’s prepaid data tariffs for it’s 3G n 4G customers over all the telecom circles in the country.
Most selling Rs.249 data recharge which use to have 1GB 3G/4G data free from now on will have 1GB anytime + 1GB night time data free. So almost double data with a catch. We already talked about new Rs.103 4G recharge with 30 days validity as lowest monthly data recharge in MH & Goa circle.
This latest move by incumbents is stop users from opting the Jio sim card which is available with free data will 31st December 2016 as promised by Mukesh Ambani in AGM of RIL on 1st Sept 2016.
Now 2GB anytime data costs Rs.349 instead of Rs.449 previously.
Rs.449 3G recharge offers 3GB ydata free instead of 2GB before.
Rs.296 recharge which use to give 1GB anytime + 1GB night time data now offers additional 1GB 4G only data.
4G only data means it can be used on 4G network only. Though it is not clear this 4G only data is anytime or night time data. Seems like providers do not want to choke up it’s 3G network with extra data as 4G network can easily handle more data on it’s network on same amount of spectrum.
Another interesting observation seen on Idea cellular website under mahrashtra and goa circle 3G n 4G mobile data tariff plan is that overage charge which is the charge that is deducted from core balance when data pack gets over is 1p/10KB for 4G network and 4p/10KB for 3G network. Another clear hint how 4G network is better to handle data traffic and why Jio 4G is at advantage of these incumbent providers with it’s pure 4G network.
