Bsnl launched Wings voip service on 1 August 2018. Though there was some confusion initially regarding how avail & activate service but slowly all got cleared when people starting getting sms to activate service.
Good thing is Bsnl is providing mobile nos for wing service starting with 94. Hopefully they’ll add sms service and mnp eventually to this.
Firstly this service is currently activated in 7 states as on 10th August 2018 you see the state listed under “select state” drop down menu given in this link. Though users from all the states can book the service.
Requirements for opting Bsnl wings service:
Now steps to avail this service at your home without visiting any Bsnl office.
1.) Visit wings registration portal-click here and enter your details and pay the amount. Please note the mobile no with which you register must be same as listed in your aadhar no. You’ll receive receipt via sms in few hours.
2.) Now again visit this link and verify your mobile no. For no to appear in this link database may take some hours or even days so be patient and keep trying until you get OTP. Now enter your aadhar no and all necessary billing details.
3.) Again after few hours you’ll receive sms with activation pin, asking you to register under NGN portal and activate service. What I suggest is register for NGN portal even before you receive the sms. Goto NGN portal
4.) Once you receive the sms actiavte service my inputting the pin and selecting the voip password. Remember this password is part of sip settings and different from NGN portal password you selected while registering at step 3.
Once you do this you are ready to use bsnl voip service in your mobile phone with app like grandstream,zoiper, csip simple. sip is an open source protocol where you can use voip service with few settings. Important out of these are sip server, username and password. you also use this on pc with zoiper windows client.
You also connect analogue phones to this by using unlocked voip/sip adapter which needs internet connectivity via ethernet port.
