Bsnl has updated it’s Rs.186-187 STV in line with Rs.199 plan from Jio & Airtel. Customers now would be getting 5GB data + unlimited calls even while roaming(except Delhi & Mumbai)+1000sms included in just Rs.187 with 28days validity. Other benefit includes free caller tunes rental of 28days. Previously Bsnl was giving just 1GB data benefits with this Rs.187 STV which is now times at 5GB.

Airtel first started the trend by increasing data benefits on Rs.199 STV from 1GB to 1GB per day. Jio launched Rs.199plan on similar terms with 1.2GB per day. Bsnl now increased Rs.187 benefits with 5GB data instead of previous 1GB.
It’s sure shot a data revolution in India with increased coverage and more no of people buying & using 4G data on 4G phones. However we still suffer from lowest 4G data speeds in comparison to rest of world. Though I think this gonna improve one tariff becomes stable, increased arpu is achieved leading to higher spending on network infrastructure.
Another drawbacks with generous data regime is peak time network congestion which is faced by many people around cities in India. Like in railway , bus n metro station. This can be solved by increased wifi hotspots in these places from mobile operators where mobile latches to wifi instead of 4G for data leading less load on mobile data network itself.
