In last few days there has been mad rush at Reliance digital and xpress mini stores countrywide for Jio preview offer.
However while Reliance digital being co-owned stores are obliged to give sim cards even when long queues are formed outside it’s the other small stores called mini xpress which are taking advantage of this mad rush and not offering Jio free sim cards free to everyone eligible.
These digital mini xpress stores half shut down the shop implying customers that sim is sold out .
Strange thing is however sim card are still available if you buy Lyf mobile handsets.
Problem with these stores are that these are franchise stores and not owned by Reliance directly so they can do whatever they like to increase their profit.
Currently these stores have hidden agreements with small retailers shop where preview offer Jio sim is being sold for Rs.100-300 without any preview code requirements. Just bring in your ID docs & pic with cash and take away preview sim card.
At many places we have noticed this black marketing of Jio preview sim cards in nearby areas. Even customers are finding it worth to pay for the sim card with free internet and calls till 31st December 2016. Many I talked to said it is more convenient to buy from shops nearby to avoid the hassles of standing in long queues and arguing with store employees as many times activation of these sim card takes long time of 3-5 days as whole process has not been smooth till now.
