Airtel launched vfiber in Chennai recently and announced it for Bangalore and Delhi also with promise of more cities getting it sooner. Now co has updated it’s website with 3 more cities added which are Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
Vfiber is Vdsl+fiber technology to give 40-100mbps speed with better upload speed. It’s basically a compromise of Fiber to the home where existing copper is used for last mile. Airtel is hushing up these upgrade because of expected launch of FTTH service of Jio which is expected to be launched in FY-2017. Jio is promising speed upto 1GBps using pure fiber technology with phone and Tv services using ip technology called VoIP and IPTV respectively.
